Seed Phrase (Recovery Phrase)

Definition

A seed phrase (also called mnemonic or recovery phrase) is a sequence of 12 or 24 words that serves as a master backup for a cryptocurrency wallet. It can regenerate all private keys and restore access to all funds if a device is lost or damaged. Seed phrases follow the BIP-39 standard and should be written on paper or stored on metal — never digitally. Losing your seed phrase means permanently losing access to your funds.
